Beaver Tail

Also known as: Duck Bill. An extended rearward protrusion at the top of the pistol grip, curving over the web of the shooter's hand. Its primary functions are to spread the recoil impulse across a wider surface area for better control, allow for a higher purchase on the grip, and protect the hand from 'slide bite' or 'hammer bite' as the action cycles.
