Frame

Also known as: Receiver, Lower. The foundational chassis of the handgun that houses the internal fire control group (trigger, sear, hammer/striker mechanisms) and serves as the grip for the shooter. In semi-automatic pistols, it provides the rails on which the slide travels. Frames are typically made from forged steel, aluminum alloys, or high-impact polymers.
