Sear

A critical component of the fire control group that holds the hammer, striker, or bolt under spring tension in the cocked position. When the trigger is pulled, it moves the sear, disengaging it and allowing the weapon to fire. The geometry and polishing of the sear directly dictate the 'crispness' and weight of the trigger pull.
