Slide Stop

Also known as: Slide Release, Slide Catch. A lever typically located on the left side of the frame (or ambidextrously). Its internal tab is pushed upward by the magazine follower when the magazine is empty, locking the slide in the rearward, open position. Once a fresh magazine is inserted, the shooter can depress it to release the slide and chamber a new round.
