Striker

Also known as: Striker Mechanism. A spring-loaded firing pin assembly used in many modern polymer-framed pistols (like Glocks) instead of a traditional hammer. When the trigger is pulled, the internal sear releases the tensioned striker, allowing it to slam forward directly into the cartridge primer to ignite the propellant.
